Yoga arch back7/23/2023 This was caused by my tight hip flexors and quads stopping me from lengthening through the front of my body to allow the extension of my spine. Other structural variablesįor a long time, when I was new to yoga and forcing myself into positions such as the backbend, I used to experience burning through my lower back. Every joint is mechanical and will have a set way of moving, whether it’s a pivot (top of the neck), hinge (knee), saddle (bottom of the thumb), plane (intercarpal), condyloid (wrist) or ball and socket (hip) joint.īecause these movements are determined by a solid structure, they won’t change with training. Your skeleton is a solid structure it’s strong and made of hundreds of bones, moving together the best they can with the space the joints allow. But, you guessed it, if you don’t stretch and train, the tighter the muscles and connective tissues will become and the more they will pull against the tendons and bones they connect to. So, if you stretch and train often and consistently, your muscles will retain that mobility, tone and mass. Tensile flex will always adapt and be responsive to what you put your body through. This refers to the amount of length and give of the muscles and connective tissues around the spine.
